St David's Day

If this wasn't a leap year then today would be 1st March and Averina's splendid Daffodils and sign writing would have been completed on a very appropriate day. However, we will excuse her for being a day early, it's a lady's prerogative after all.  We are absolutely pleased as punch with John Birkin's signwriting.  All done remotely via emails and scanned scribbles which John has interpreted just perfectly.   Here's a photo.

Out of the paint dock

Today Averina burst out into the Worcestershire sunshine with her shiny new livery.  Royal Blue with a cream coach-line and cream roof.  Next step tomorrow is for the sign-writer to add his artistic magic.  Hopefully his interpretation of our ideas will become one.  We are all very excited!!

Latest on paint job

Croeso (as Averina would have said all those years ago).  Averina (all 58' of her) is in the paint dock.  We're glad the weather has turned out milder, should help with the paint drying well.  Due to be finished on Monday and then our new (hooray) sign-writer John, will be working his magic on Tuesday.  Not sure he will finish on Tuesday but when he does he promises to send through some pics, can't wait :)

Breaking news!

20th February and Averina is in the paint dock but disaster!  The signwriter has broken his leg and can't do the design work.  Hopefully we have found a new signwriter to do the necessary next week !  Watch this space :)

The first blog of Averina the Narrowboat 11.2.2012

This is the blog of Averina the Narrowboat.  She is named after my Great Grandmother who lived in Aberdovey, Wales between 1848 - 1927, hence the daffodils.  At the moment she is undergoing some cosmetic alterations and we hope to have the first of many trips in Mid March.
